Finished shading yesterday’s practice. I find that I have no idea how to logically shade big, open spaces. Hmmm… Need to do more research about that. I also learned just because I should leave a bigger space between each line so that the shading will show up better without magnification. It’s easy to go too thin/ too short when I’m using the microscope because it seems like I’m cutting away so much metal but in actual fact, I’m not.

Got another design from the book of Japanese crests. I engraved this rather quickly and quite accurately too; felt like I’ve improved. I’m even pleased with the shading.

Only thing now is I’m bored of engraving Japanese crests. Still though, they make excellent practice material.
